Training Description
Pressure, a derived unit of the fundamental units of mass, length and time is one of the most common quantities used in our daily life. Industries such as manufacturing, aerospace, commercial airlines, medical and chemical industry, the military and weather bureau, secondary and private calibration laboratories uses important pressure monitoring devices that requires calibration. This calibration assures quality of measurements done which in turn ensure safety, fair trade and even economical savings. Pressure standards cover wide variety of devices mainly because of its ranges and application. This course covers commonly used pressure standards in gauge pressure, its appropriate use and metrological characteristics as well as calibration.
Also, this course explains essential concepts in pressure metrology and provides a useful framework needed to prepare the participant for higher courses in pressure metrology and avoid the common consequences of incorrect pressure measurement.
Objectives
1.Choose appropriate pressure measuring device for the application needed;
2.Identify appropriate working standard for a given pressure measuring device;
3.Determine the measurement results and corresponding uncertainty of measurement in accordance with DKD-R-1; and
4. Prepare and understand the contents of a calibration certificate.
Methodologies
- The course will be conducted in the form of a lecture, hands-on demonstrations and problem
solving activities.
- A written examination will be given to evaluate the knowledge gained by the participants.
- A proof of attendance will be issued to all participants with complete attendance upon completion of the course.
- A Certificate of Training will be awarded to participants with complete attendance and passed the written examination.
